Power System R&D Engineer
NHOA S.A. (formerly Electro Power Systems - Engie EPS), global player in energy storage and e-mobility, active in the construction of the largest fast and ultra-fast charging infrastructure in Southern Europe, develops technologies enabling the transition towards clean energy and sustainable mobility, shaping the future of a next generation living in harmony with our planet. It operates through its three Global Business Lines: NHOA Energy, Free2move eSolutions and Atlante.
Born in 2005 as a technological spin-off of the Politecnico di Torino and Milano, NHOA leverages its best-in-class technology and engineering edge, developed in over 15 years of R&D, paired with strategic partnerships and global procurement, to deliver the most competitive tailor-made turn-key solutions that allow the integration of renewable sources with all forms of energy storage, from batteries to hydrogen and even electric vehicles.
NHOA, with offices in France, the United States and Australia, maintains entirely in Italy research, development and production of its technologies.
Posizione:
The Power System Engineer is a key contributor within the Power System R&D team, directly supporting the development and advancement of NHOA Energy's cutting-edge technology platform. Reporting to the Head of Power System R&D, this role is responsible for the full value chain of Power Plant Controller (PPC) development, including conceptualization, design, simulation, hardware testing, and commissioning. The Power System PPC Engineer will play a pivotal role in creating and implementing control strategies, performing system simulations, conducting hardware-in-the-loop testing, and enhancing power system modelling capabilities to ensure optimal product performance.
Tasks and Duties
Power Plant Controller (PPC) Development
· Design and implement advanced power system control strategies in Simulink for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
· Perform rigorous testing and validation of power system controllers in both simulation (Simulink) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments prior to commissioning.
· Collaborate with Control, Software, and Project Engineers to support the design, development, and commissioning of new plants.
Power System Modelling
· Enhance in-house modelling capabilities for NHOA products using tools such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and PSS/E, ensuring accurate and reliable representations of system performance.
· Develop and maintain detailed power system models to support system design, grid integration, and compliance with grid codes.
Cross-Team Collaboration
· Work closely with R&D teams to drive innovation in field-oriented functionalities.
· Provide technical support to Project Engineers and Control & Software teams during the commissioning of NHOA power plants worldwide.
